Kamakura is a coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture, less than an hour south of Tokyo. The town became the political center of Japan when Minamoto Yoritomo chose it as the seat for his new military government in the late 12th century. The Kamakura government continued to rule Japan for over a century, first under the Minamoto shogun and then under the Hojo regents.

You can enjoy the ancient city like a smaller version of Kyoto. The main difference from Kyoto is that Kamakura is historical and has a beautiful seaside, and Kamakura has a renovated local culture and modern houses, cafes, and hotels. You will feel the slower pace of life in Kamakura compared to Tokyo, only within an hour’s journey.

Head to Kamakura from Shibuya, Shinagawa, or Tokyo Station by local train taking about 60 minutes. With a private guide just for your group, you will go to the famous Tsuruokahachiman Shrine, which has existed for over 800 years, walk thru the town, and see your prefer area.

Kamakura has mainly three sightseeing spots, 1st is Beautiful and calm temples area in Kita-Kamakura, 2nd is the Great Buddha and beautiful seaside view from the Hase temple in Hase area and finally, coastal side in Enoshima Island area. Please selected your favorite area to strolling.

1. Kita Kamakura area

Kita-Kamakura, neighbor of Kamakura Station, has a group of prestigious Zen Buddhist temples. These architectures are magnificent and splendid, and you can see beautiful gardens with seasonal flowers. Recommended for those who want to enjoy the quiet and local atmosphere of the ancient city.

2. Iconic Spots in Kamakura area

Visit the famous Great Buddha, a symbol of Kamakura, and a Hase temple where you can enjoy beautiful flowers and seaside scenery. The town of Hase has small local shops and cafés. And we will visit Tsuruokahachiman Shrine where the stage of history and walk around shopping street.

Recommended for those who want to visit iconic spots in Kamakura, if you first time visit Kamakura.

3.Enoshima island and Anime sacred place

Visit the small island of Enoshima where is connected to the mainland by a 400-meter bridge. Enoshima has many entertainments for sightseeing and dating spot as Shrine built in Edo era (1603-1867), shops, restaurants, Spa and sea candle tower. And we visit animation Slam dunk sacred place and Hase area. Recommended for those who want to enjoy the scenery of Kamakura from the sea and animation lovers.

Lunch information
There are some choices, from traditional Japanese restaurants to modern cafés in Kamakura. You can enjoy eating and walking in “Komachi street,” which is the local shopping area. The price depends on your choice. However, if you wanted to try traditional Japanese lunch, please contact us. We need a reservation in advance. (Ex. Japanese lunch Course menu from around 5,000 JPY, Cafe around 1,000-2,000 JPY.)
