Nikko(日光) is famous for magnificent architecture, deep history at the world heritage complex, untouched nature merged place.

Nikko city is a town at the entrance to Nikko National Park, most famous for Toshogu was built in the 1600s, Japan’s most lavishly decorated shrine and mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.

The Nikko National Park continues to offer scenic, mountains landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, hot springs, wild monkeys and hiking trail.

Kegon waterfalls

Nikko and Okunikko area around Yumoto, Lake Chuzenji and Irohazaka road are well known for beautiful autumn leaves between early October to November.

Ryuzu waterfalls

Nikko can be enjoyed year-round with its stunning seasonal landscape and multiple attractions like the world heritage complex, spectacular untouched nature or local hot springs. Therefore, Nikko is popular travel destination in Tokyo.

Located between Tokyo and Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture, you can take the JR or Tobu Limited Express, which is only two hours to Nikko station to from Tokyo Shinjuku or Asakusa station.

Tour Spots Information

Visit Nikko on a full-day (11 hours) world heritage trip from Shinjuku or Asakusa station. With a private guide just for your group, you will head to Kegon waterfall, then visit the Nikko world heritage complex, Shinkyo Bridge(神橋), Futarasan Shrine(二荒山神社), Rinnoji Temple(輪王寺) and Toshogu(東照宮). The route back down includes a stop at a local shops and restaurants if you like. If you want to spend more time in the World Heritage area, we can arrange exclude waterfall visiting. Please let us know your preference.

If you wanted to visit the Nikko Edo wonderland. We can arrange the tour before or after visiting the Nikko world heritage area. If you wanted to visit the Nikko Edo wonderland, please understand it hard to visit the Kegon waterfall. (We can’t visit both of area due to far from each other)

Important information

Nikko is famous for its beautiful autumn leaves, but the Irohazaka slope leading up to Kegon Falls is expected to be heavily congested. This crowded period is from mid-October to mid-November. If you want to see the autumn leaves and Kegon Falls at this time of year, it will take 5 hours round trip, so please be aware that if you leave early in the morning, your time to see the world heritage site may be considerably shorter or you may not be able to see it.
