According to Frances’s famous Michelin guide, Mt. Takao, a “three-star mountain,” is the perfect place for Tokyo visitors who want to sample the joys of Japan’s natural environment.
It’s only 70 minutes by train from Tokyo’s Shinjuku or Tokyo Station. Mt. Takao is an excellent spot for hiking in all seasons, with several trails crisscrossing the mountain and leading to the peak at 599 meters.
Summer and Spring is cooler than Tokyo central area.
Autum season has many red leaves all around Mt.Takao
Our guide will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel or any preferred place, allowing you to relax and enjoy yourself like a local without the stress of complicated public transport.

Tour Spots Information
Visit Mt. Takao on a full-day hiking tour from Shinjuku Station or Tokyo in Tokyo. With a private guide just for your group, you’ll buckle up your boots at Takaosanguchi station for a hike along the trails to the summit, where Mt. Fuji can be seen on a clear day. The route back down includes a stop at a temple and an onsen for a relaxing soak in the Japanese hot springs. (Hot springs is an option)
Tour course start from 599 Mt.Takao museum. Then move to your selected hiking route and clime up around 60-90 minutes and rest on the top on the mountain. After the top of the Mt. Takao, we are heading to the Yakuoin temple and watching some local food and staff at shops and cafe. There is many cafe on a top of the mountain. You will enjoy local food with beautiful view.
*You can select the method of climbing the mountain by foot, cable car or chair lift.
Yakuoin temple is established in 744 on the order of emperor as the base for Budhism in eastern Japan.
Many Jizo who is the one of the Buddhism sculptures in a mountain.
The clear day in a morning, we will be able to see the Mt. Fuji from top of the Mt.Takao.
If you wanted to eat a Shoji-Ryori (Vegetarian food at temple), It need a reservation 2days in advance. Please let us know, if you want to eat Buddhism lunch. The lunch menu is change without notice.

- Not recommended for pregnant travelers and No heart problems or other severe medical conditions
- Not recommended for children under five (If you take an infant, you must carry them by yourself.)
- Please wear suitable clothes and footwear. The tour has you walk up and down the mountain, and you can use a chair lift or cable car ride at the end. However, if you wish to ride the cable car or chair lift both ways, you will be responsible for your fare and that of the guide.
